On Friday, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs issued an order removing Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha and appointing Anurag Kumar in his stead. The situation about Satish Golcha’s new posting is not yet clear, but for the time being, he has been ordered to report to the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi. Meanwhile, Anurag Kumar—currently serving as a Special Director in the Intelligence Bureau (IB)—has been appointed to the role for three years.
In its order, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs stated – With the approval of the competent authority, Anurag Kumar (IPS: 1994, AGMUT cadre) is appointed as the Police Commissioner of Delhi with effect from the date of assuming charge and until further orders.
Satish Golcha had assumed the office of Delhi Police Commissioner on August 22, 2025 succeeding SBK Singh, and his tenure was scheduled to last until 2027. Essentially, he was removed abruptly before even completing 11 months in the role.

For the past two decades, he has been serving in the Intelligence Bureau (IB) on central deputation.
