PMF saved 10 fishermen during emergency operation in Andaman Nicobar

In a quick emergency operation, 10 fishermen in distress in the sea in  Long Island of Andaman Nicobar were rescued by the personnel of the Police Marine Force. The personnel deployed on Rangat’s PMF boat are being praised for this excellent work.
The Andaman Nicobar Police has shared information and pictures related to this operation on social media. Andaman Nicobar Police Chief Hargobinder Singh Dhaliwal has also shared a post related to this incident on Saturday. He congratulated and praised the rescue team.

Actually this operation started on Saturday (15 February 2025)  at a distance of 2 nautical miles from Long Island. A team of PMF Rangat, on a regular patrol duty,  saw a distressed dinghy of fishermen floating in the sea water. There were 10 fishermen in it who had gone out for fishing in the sea but the engine of their boat failed in the mid water. They were signalling for assistance.

Led by Sub Inspector (Master) Abdul Lathief the PMF team was deployed at the fast interceptor boat Santook (fib suntook). The team consists of  Sub Inspector (ED)  Sandeep Shann, Head Constable (Seacunny) Samson and Constable  N Zainudin.

The PMF boat team safely reached the distressed fishermen’s dinghy. It was found that all the fishermen were from Junglighat. After providing some technical assistance, the PMF team towed their boat and brought it to the Rangat Bay Jetty so that the dinghy could be repaired. After proper investigation, they found that there was some kind of electrical fault in the engine of the Mahindra pick up fitted in the dinghy and hence the engine was not getting a start.This fault was immediately rectified so that the fishermen could safely travel to Junglighat located at Sri Vijayapuram.

The team deployed on PMF Rangat’s boat FIB Santuk has been congratulated by the department for this quick operation. Senior officers have publicly praised the team and applauded them for demonstrating an unwavering commitment to maritime safety
