The inspiring success story of Uday Krishna—who rose to prominence despite a life marked by struggle and hardship—came to public attention when the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, K. Chandrashekar Reddy, posted about him on his X (formerly Twitter) handle. This post was shared on social media on April 29, 2025, and featured a photograph of Uday Krishna Reddy in his constable’s uniform. The accompanying caption read: “Uday Krishna Reddy’s journey from constable to IPS officer proves that no dream is too big when backed by courage and persistent hard work.”
The fascinating story of Uday’s life is no less dramatic than that of a movie hero—a tale that will be covered in a separate article. For now, let us focus on the recent case.
The case:
On July 18, 2026, a fellow female trainee IPS officer at the National Police Academy lodged an FIR against Uday Reddy at the Attapur police station in Hyderabad, leveling serious allegations of sexual harassment, intimidation, and threats. Charges under the IT Act have also been invoked in the case. The very next day (July 19), news emerged that Uday Krishna Reddy had attempted to take his own life under suspicious circumstances. Uday had visited a friend’s house in the city and consumed a poisonous liquid, after which he was hospitalized.
In an alleged suicide note recovered from the hospital, Uday Krishna Reddy denied all allegations the female officer made in her complaint , describing the situation as a consensual affair and claiming that the woman herself was making false accusations.
The woman’s account:
One aspect of the matter involves a video Uday Krishna recorded with the female trainee IPS officer, which he subsequently sent to the officer’s husband. The officer stated that she was unaware that Uday was recording the video at the time. In her complaint, she alleged that Reddy sent sexually offensive messages via WhatsApp and made derogatory remarks about her in front of other probationers. She further alleged that Uday Reddy repeatedly accused her of being in a relationship with another trainee, coerced her into admitting it, and mistreated her.
The woman cited several incidents. She also alleged that Uday Krishna Reddy forcibly took her mobile phone, compelled her to unlock it, viewed her private chats, took the phone to his room, and forcibly obtained her password.
In another incident, she alleged that Uday…” He wrongfully restrained her, forcibly took her to his room, assaulted her, pulled her hair, attempted to strangle her, and held a knife to her throat to prevent her from leaving. She also claimed that during the incident, Reddy threw condom packets at her. She further alleged that another assault took place on July 10, during which Reddy attempted to touch her inappropriately.
One of the most serious allegations was that Reddy secretly recorded a private video of her without her consent and later sent it to her husband to blackmail her. She also accused Reddy of attempting to tarnish her reputation by spreading false and defamatory statements about her.

However, in a two-page suicide note, Uday Reddy denied the allegations leveled against him. He claimed that the woman had forcibly entered his room despite his refusal. Uday stated that they had maintained a physical and emotional relationship even after her marriage.
“I, Uday Krishna Reddy, and (the woman) were in a relationship since June 2025. Even after her marriage, we remained in a physical and emotional relationship. She came to my room on her own (she had asked me via WhatsApp chat several times to open the door) and started an argument. I recorded her on my phone as evidence. I reacted only in self-defense; video evidence of this exists.”
He further wrote, “On July 9, she came to my room on her own, saying she was experiencing an intense … urge. She kissed and hugged me without my consent. So, I recorded it as evidence and sent it to her husband (name), because I had already asked her several times not to come to my room.”
Uday Krishna further wrote that the woman later “twisted the facts” and alleged that he had assaulted her, which, according to him, “is not true.” He also alleged that the complaint was filed at the instigation of her friends and demanded action against the woman, her husband, and two other individuals.
Meanwhile, the police stated that the allegations are being investigated and further legal action will be taken based on the evidence gathered.
