Special Commissioner ( Traffic) Ajay Choudhry welcomed Sh. Kumar on reaching Traffic Police HQ. Joint Commissioner Sanjay Tyagi and other senior officers of the Traffic Unit were present on the occasion. Sh. Tyagi delivered the welcome address, highlighting the initiatives undertaken by Delhi Traffic Police to ensure road safety and unhindered traffic movement. He also highlighted the successful implementation of various measures and efficient traffic management during the BRICS Summit.
According to a press release , Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar appreciated the tireless efforts of Delhi Traffic Police officers and personnel in facilitating mobility, preventing accidents, enforcing traffic regulations and ensuring the safety of road users, often under challenging conditions. He acknowledged the indispensable role of Delhi Traffic Police in managing daily congestion and making elaborate arrangements for major national and international events.
Sh. Kumar also interacted with officers and personnel and encouraged them to share their suggestions and grievances. Some personnel raised concerns regarding career progression, reimbursement of medical claims, allotment of quarters, transfers and postings, among other issues. CP Delhi assured them that their concerns would be looked into and appropriate measures initiated to ensure the effective redressal of their grievances.
The Police Commissioner urged officers and personnel to make sustained efforts towards promoting road safety awareness, technology-driven enforcement and citizen engagement to make Delhi’s roads safer and traffic management more responsive to public needs. He emphasised that effective traffic policing is not merely about enforcing the law but also about maintaining a visible presence on roads, particularly during peak hours and periods of congestion, as the presence of police personnel itself can act as a deterrent to traffic violations.
He further stressed the importance of sensitising citizens, cultivating responsible road behaviour and extending a helping hand to those in need, thereby nurturing a culture of mutual respect, civic responsibility and road safety. He also emphasised upon the need to ensure that enforcement remains fair, transparent and people-centric.
