1893

In order to boost the morale of the lower rank personnel, Punjab Government for the first time issued orders to all the Punjab cops recruited as Constables and completed 16, 24 and 30 years of service, with local ranks. Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh will initiate the promotion process by putting rank badges to a number of cops at Jahan Khela on Monday, July 9.More than 10 thousand constables are likely to be benefited from this move.
The state Government has framed the policy for time bound promotions for the police constabulary. Earlier there was a provision for giving local rank promotion to cops who have completed 16 years in service. The basic principle behind this policy is to provide at least three promotions to the lower rank cops.
In Punjab, it may be the first initiative of the Punjab government . In Delhi, police personnel who had completed 25 years in the job, were allowed to wear the uniform of the Assistant Sub Inspectors in November 2016 on the condition that they would undergo 45 days Specialised Training.
