Indian Army’s Captain Supreetha C.T., a resident of Mysuru in Karnataka, is the first woman officer of Army Air Defence Corps to be posted operationally in Siachen Glacier. Her husband is also an officer in the Indian Army. Interestingly Captain Supreetha belongs to a police family as well. Her father is a sub-inspector in Karnataka Police.
Sharing the information about the recent appointment of Captain Supreetha ), the Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADGPI) of the Indian Army said in a post on social media X, “Breaking barriers…overcoming challenges…Captain Supreeta CT has joined the league of Siachen Warriors. With her enduring strength and determination, she is now operationally deployed in Siachen, the world’s highest battlefield,”
Captain Supreetha’s name and pictures also made headlines when she participated in the Republic Day Parade 2024 in Delhi on 26 January 2024. The reason is that her husband Major Jerry Jacob also participated in this parade. This was the first army officer couple to participate in the Republic Day parade.

Captain Supreetha’s father, Thirumalesh, is a sub-inspector of police in Talkad near Mysuru (Mysore). Praising Supreetha’s courage and success, he said that his daughter has undergone rigorous training before serving in the world’s highest battlefield.
Captain Supreetha, a native of Chamarajanagar district of Karnataka, hails from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Nagar in Mysore. She started her studies at Shastri Vidya Samastha in Hunsur. She later studied at St. Mary’s Convent School in Kote, St. Joseph School in K.R. Nagar and Mary Mallappa High School in Mysore.
Supreetha did her LLB from JSS Law College, Mysore and joined the Indian Army as a lieutenant in 2021. After training in Chennai, she was deployed in the Army Air Defence.
