Mirage 2000 crashed near Shivpuri in Madhya Pradesh
Indian Air Force’s two-seater Mirage 2000 fighter plane crashed near Shivpuri in Madhya Pradesh today. The plane was on a routine training flight. Officials said that both the pilots are safe and an inquiry has been ordered to find out the cause of the accident.

The Indian Air Force said in a post on X, “Today during a routine training flight, the Air Force’s Mirage 2000 aircraft crashed near Shivpuri (Gwalior) after a malfunction in the system.  Both the pilots ejected safely. The Air Force has ordered an inquiry to find out the cause of the accident.

Mirage fighter aircraft:

The Mirage 2000 fighter jet ,manufactured by Dassault Aviation of France,  first flew in 1978. It was inducted into the French Air Force in 1984. Dassault has said on its website that a total of 600 Mirage 2000 were produced. Fifty  percent of them were exported to eight countries including India.

There is also a single-seater version of the Mirage 2000. The Indian Air Force witnessed  the success story of the Mirage 2000 during the Kargil war. During that war, the Mirage 2000 dropped laser-guided bombs with great accuracy on the terrorists and the mountainous areas occupied by the Pakistani Army.
