Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha welcomes Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh at an event organized for the destruction of narcotics.
Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh announced the setting up of Delhi’s first dedicated Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) police station, during an event of ‘drug destruction’ organised by the Delhi Police. He also lauded the work of Delhi Police for its  campaign against narcotic drugs  and exhorted all stakeholders to join hands for making Delhi ‘Drug Free’ by 2027.

LG Taranjit Singh appealed to all stakeholders—including the police—to step forward to address the drug menace and work collectively towards this objective.

Notably, during this event organized by the Delhi Police, a total of approximately 1,700 kilograms of narcotics substances were destroyed. These substances had been seized from drug traffickers, smugglers, and addicts. However, the quantity of highly dangerous narcotics among these seized substances was less than 100 kilograms.

According to the information provided by the police themselves , in a press release issued regarding this event, 1,600 kilograms of the destroyed substances consisted solely of Ganja (cannabis). According to the details provided by the Delhi Police the drugs destroyed today includes: Cannabis (1610kg), Charas (21 kg), Heroin (11 kg), Cocaine (591 grams), Cannabis Sativa (21 kg), Alprazolam tablets (30 kg) from Crime Branch and South Distt, Delhi.

According to a press release issued by the Delhi Police, a total of 46,500 kg of narcotics have been seized since Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the objective of achieving a ‘Drug-Free India’ and Union Home Minister Amit Shah initiated the implementation of a ‘Zero Tolerance’ policy towards narcotics. This quantity represents the total volume of drugs seized over the past three years.

Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh also made reference to the vision of a ‘Drug-Free India’ championed by the Prime Minister and the Home Minister. He commended the work undertaken thus far by the Delhi Police in furtherance of this objective. Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha and other senior officials were also present on this occasion.

LG Taranjit Singh  underlined that the event was not merely about destroying seized narcotic substances, but dismantling an ecosystem that threatens our youth, weakens families and harms the future of the society as a whole.
