According to an official order, Neeraj Thakur—a 1994-batch IPS officer of the AGMUT cadre—has been relieved of his duties in the Traffic Department and appointed as the Special Commissioner (Law & Order) for Zone-II. His junior by one batch, 1995-batch IPS officer Devesh Chandra Srivastava, has been appointed as the Special Commissioner (Law & Order) for Zone-I. Devesh Srivastava was previously serving as the Special Commissioner (Crime). This reshuffle comes just days after the transfer out of IPS Madhup Tiwari and Ravinder Singh Yadav, who were previously holding these very posts. Zone-I encompasses the densely populated areas of North, Central, and East Delhi—regions that typically witness higher crime rates— while Zone-II covers West and South Delhi, as well as the high-profile and sensitive areas of New Delhi.
Previously, Madhup Tiwari served as the Special Commissioner (Law & Order, Zone-II). He was transferred to Arunachal Pradesh on May 2nd. Meanwhile, Ravinder Singh Yadav, who served as the Special Commissioner (Law & Order, Zone-I), was appointed as the Director General of Police (DGP) for the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
The recent order further states that IPS officer David Lalringsanga (1995-batch), who is currently serving as Special Commissioner (Operations, Police Control Room, and Communication), has now been entrusted with the charge of SPUWAC as well. David Lalringsanga also holds the additional charge of SPUNER. SPUNER stands for the Special Police Unit for the North Eastern Region, while SPUWAC stands for the Special Police Unit for Women and Children.
IPS officer Manish Agarwal (1996-batch) has been relieved of his duties as Special Commissioner (Intelligence Department) and entrusted with the responsibility of Delhi’s traffic management. Mr. Agarwal has been appointed as Special Commissioner (Traffic). He already holds the additional charge of the Public Transport Safety Division. Similarly, IPS officer Ajay Chaudhary — also of the 1996-batch—has been transferred from the Vigilance Department and appointed as Special Commissioner (Security Division).
Another senior IPS officer Har Gobinder Singh Dhaliwal (1997-batch) has been recalled to Delhi from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Dhaliwal was serving as the Director General of Police (DGP) for the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Prior to this assignment, Dhaliwal had served as the Special Commissioner overseeing Traffic Operations in Delhi.
The order further states that IPS officer Atul Katiyar (1997-batch) has been appointed as Special Commissioner (Vigilance Department). Atul Katiyar has also been given the additional charge of the Welfare and Licensing Departments.
In addition to his role as Special Commissioner (Armed Police), Vijay Kumar has been entrusted with the additional charge of the Public Transport Safety Division. IPS officer K. Jagadesan (1998-batch) has been appointed as Special Commissioner (Intelligence division) and has also been entrusted with the additional charge of Managing Director (MD) of the Delhi Police Housing Corporation (DPHC).
