Major General B C Khanduri removed from Defence Parliamentary Panel

Major General B C Khanduri (Bhuwan Chandra Khanduri) has been removed as Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Defence. He has been replaced by former Union Minister Kalraj Mishra , who resigned from the post in 2017 as he had crossed the age of 75 years, which is the maximum age limit set by The Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Standing Committee lead by Major General Khanduri has been delivering a series of critical reports on the defence preparedness and the latest among them, slammed the government for critical low stock of armaments. Released in March , this report said that 68% of equipment with Indian armed forces was in the vintage category.

Bhuwan Chandra Khanduri :

Born in 1933, in Dehradun, Major General Bhuwan Chandra Khanduri has served Indian Army for 36 years. Retired in 1990, Maj Gen Khanduri was conferred with Ati Vishishth Sewa Medal (AVSM) in 1982. He was commander of regiment during 1971 Indo – Pak War.

Two Time (2007–2009 and 2011-2012 ) Chief Minister of Uttrakhand Major General B C Khanduri is BJP Member of Parliament from Garhwal . He has also served as Cabinet Minister in Centre.
