Although this is nothing new in Indian culture and tradition, but the new Chief of the Indian Navy, Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi, touching his mother’s feet and mother hugging him and patting him on the back, gave a memory of very emotional moments. People liked this video of Admiral Tripathi being blessed by his mother Rajni Tripathi so much that it instantly went viral on social media.

This video is from Tuesday’s moments  when Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi was seen touching his mother’s feet and taking blessings during a ceremony of  taking charge as the 26th Navy Chief. Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi , a communications and electronic warfare expert, assumed his new responsibility at a ceremony in South Block, New Delhi.

Admiral Tripathi said that our Navy has evolved over the years into a war-ready, united, reliable and future-proof force. The Indian Navy must remain operationally prepared at all times to deter potential adversaries to respond to existing and emerging challenges in the maritime domain. “Maintaining peace at sea and winning wars at sea when called upon to do so will remain my sole focus and endeavour,” he said.

Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi took charge from Admiral R Hari Kumar after his retirement from service. Admiral Dinesh Tripathi was given a guard of honor at the South Block in Raisina Hills in New Delhi. However, his appointment was announced by the government about two weeks ago.

Admiral Hari Kumar retired as the Chief of the Naval Staff of India after a career of four decades in the Navy. Before assuming the command of the Navy, Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi served as the Deputy Chief of the Naval Staff.

Dinesh Kumar Tripathi, born on 15 May 1964, is an alumnus of Sainik School, Rewa and was commissioned into the Executive Branch of the Indian Navy on 1 July 1985.

He served as the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Western Naval Command and also commanded the Indian Naval Ships Vinash, Kirch and Trishul. Tripathi has also completed courses at the Defence Services Staff College (Wellington), Naval Higher Command Course, Karanja and Naval Command College in the United States.

He has been awarded the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM) and Nau Sena Medal (NM).
