99 Sea Trainees completed 106 Integrated Officer Trainee Course (IOTC) onboard the 1st Training Squadron (1TS) of the Indian Navy. Many of the officers trained in the first training squadron were from forces of other countries. Mauritius Coast Guard’s Assistant Commandant Prishita Juggamah has become the first woman trainee to complete maritime training from here. The officers trained here will now join various frontline Naval Warships and Coast Guard Patrol Vessels on the Western and Eastern seaboard to actually implement the training aboard ships.

Vice Admiral V Srinivas, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of  Southern Naval Command, attended the closing ceremony of IOTC as the chief guest. He praised the trainees on the successful completion of the training phase conducted in the green sea and presented trophies to the meritorious trainees.

Midshipman C Praneeth was awarded the Telescope for best all round sea trainee and Midshipman PPK Reddy was awarded the Binocular for standing first in the Overall Order of Merit.

Vice Admiral V Srinivas, while addressing the trainees, encouraged them to work hard towards gaining knowledge of the ever-changing warfare skills and tactics, dynamics of technology and understanding the maritime environment.

On this occasion, Vice Admiral V Srinivas highlighted the traits of a military leader who must act with extreme professionalism and empathy towards men while maintaining speed, safety and morale. ‘Seva Parmo Dharma’ or ‘Service Before Self’ should always be the motto of a military chief.

A Division was conducted onboard INS Tir on 11 May 24 which was reviewed by Rear Admiral Satish Shenai, CSO(TRG), Southern Naval Command. The officers will now join various frontline Naval warships and Coast Guard patrol vessels on the Western and Eastern Seaboard for consolidation of afloat training. Asst Comdt Prishita Juggamah from the Mauritius Coast Guard became the first women trainee to complete sea training from 1TS.
