Indian Coast Guard and Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad in a joint operation have succeeded in seizing a large consignment of drug Methamphetamine in the Arabian Sea.  The ICG team could not catch smugglers as they escaped taking advantage of the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL).
According to a press release the quantity of drug recovered is 300 kg worth Rupee 1800 crore.

According to the release issued by the Indian Coast Guard, this operation was carried out in the Arabian Sea near Gujarat on the night of 12-13 April, near the international maritime boundary line. The ICG had received information about this smugglers’ boat from Gujarat ATS. The Indian Coast Guard ship, deployed for multi-purpose operations in North Maharashtra and South Gujarat, was asked to go to the area  from where these smugglers were coming in their boat.

According to the press release, the smugglers had sensed the presence of the Indian Coast Guard ship from a distance. Seeing the ship coming towards them, the smugglers threw the consignment of drugs into the sea. The ICG ship followed their boat but the distance was too much.  Meanwhile , taking advantage of IMBL , the smugglers turned their boat and entered the other side of the border line. After an overnight search at sea, the Coast Guard team managed to recover the consignment of drugs.

According to the press release, the seized methamphetamine was handed over to the ATS in Porbandar which is investigating the case.
