The deceased constable J. Sai Kumar was found hanging in the rest room of the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) office in LB Nagar around 2:30 AM. He had been deployed to this office for ‘e-cops duty’ and was working the night shift.
An official from the LB Nagar police station stated that other police personnel present in the premises immediately rushed him to the nearby Kamineni Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. J. Sai Kumar’s elder brother, J. Seval, is also a constable in the Armed Reserve Police; upon learning of the incident, he informed the family.
J. Sai Kumar’s father, Jarpula Bodhya, said that his elder son had informed him about the incident at 3:30 AM.
He hailed from Bandalemuru village in the Manchal Mandal of Ranga Reddy district and was living in a rented room with friends in Karmanghat, located about a kilometer away from the LB Nagar police station.
The police officer described him as a quiet person who showed no signs of stress. The investigation also revealed that he had no family-related issues. He he performed his duties on Tuesday without any complaints.
The constable’s body was taken to Osmania General Hospital for a post-mortem, and a case of suspicious death was registered at the LB Nagar police station.
Upon learning of the incident, senior police officials arrived at the station and inquired about the circumstances surrounding the constable’s death.
The police informed the deceased’s family, who arrived at the police station on Wednesday morning, accompanied by some villagers. They were agitated and started a protest, and amidst the commotion, some individuals entered the station and damaged a computer and a printer.
As the situation grew tense, a large number of police personnel were deployed to bring the situation under control. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Anuradha personally inspected the police station and inquired about the possible reasons for the constable’s death. It has also come to light that J. Seval had previously written to senior officials stating that he no longer wished to continue in the job.
Speaking to journalists present at the scene, the deceased constable’s father refused to accept that his son had committed suicide. He questioned, “There were bloodstains in the rest room where he was found hanging. We want to know from the police what the actual cause of my son’s death was.”
His mother alleged that her son might have been harassed. She expressed suspicion that her son might have been hanged, the CCTV camera in the room was switched off or not working. She also stated that her son’s cell phone was turned off and was handed over to them only after a long delay.
Meanwhile, Malreddy Ranga Reddy, the MLA from the Ibrahimpatnam constituency, arrived at the LB Nagar police station and spoke with the bereaved family.
