Indravati was found dead on a cot inside her home around 9 AM on Sunday. She had been living alone after the death of her husband, who used to be the principal of a government inter-college. A woman who came to the house for domestic work discovered the body and informed the neighbors.
Ashutosh Mishra, who is posted in Lucknow, reached the village around 3 PM and lodged a case of murder and robbery against unknown persons.
Police stated that a gold chain, a nose ring, earrings, and anklets were missing from the house. No other household items were found disturbed. It appears that the perpetrator had prior knowledge about Indravati and her home. The family suspects that thieves entered the house on Saturday night, killed Indravati, and fled with her jewelry.
Shashank Shukla, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Malipur, stated that the exact cause of death would be determined following the post-mortem examination.
“The actual cause of death will become clear after the post-mortem report.” The police are investigating both the death and the theft of the jewelry.
