Lieutenant General Paramjit Singh Sangha assume charge as Director General Military operations. Lt Gen. Sangha, one of the most important officers behind the planning of 1916 surgical strikes, handed over the charge of prestigious elite force White Knight Corps to Lt. Gen. Harsha Gupta.

“Before relinquishing the command of White Knight Corps (commonly known as XVI Corps) Lt Gen Sangha went for wreath laying at Ashwamedh Shaurya Sthal in Nagrota military station to pay tributes to the soldiers who made supreme sacrifice for the country.” a defence spokesperson said here in Jammu.

DGP J&K, Dilbag Singh presented Memento to GOC 16 Corps, Lt Gen Paramjit Singh Sangha on completion of his tenure.

Lt. Gen Paramjit Singh Sangha also addressed the troops of the White Knight Corps. “While conveying his deep appreciation and compliments to all ranks for their professionalism and steadfast dedication to duty in the service of the nation,” the spokesperson added. Lt Gen Sangha called upon all ranks to rededicate themselves to strive for excellence. He thanked the civil administration for the excellent synergy with the armed forces.

Postings :

59 year old was Lt. Gen. Sangha commissioned into the Indian Army on 12 June 1982 in Madras Regiment. He later on shifted to the elite Parachute Regiment (Special Forces) in January 1984. Interestingly, he has also commanded the same regiment. Lt Gen Sangha has vast experience of high-altitude warfare. He has the distinction of commanding the elite Siachen Brigade and an infantry division on the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir.

Lt. Gen. Sangha has spent almost maximum time of his career conducting operations to combat terrorist and insurgency activities in Jammu and Kashmir. He has also taken part in operations against LTTE (Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam) in neighbour country Sri Lanka. He also played important role in handling and strategising army’s response to agitations in 2016 in Kashmir. This was immediately after killing of Hizbul Muzahideen Poster Boy Burhan wani, a terrorist and a commander of this terrorist outfit.
