IPS Rajiv Kumar Sharma is new chief of Rajasthan Police

Senior Indian Police Service officer Rajiv Kumar Sharma has been appointed as the Director General of Police in Rajasthan. Mr. Sharma is currently on central deputation and is posted in Delhi as the head of the Bureau of Police Research and Development (bprd).
Before Rajeev Sharma, Ravi Prakash was given the command of Rajasthan Police. IPS Ravi Prakash remained on the post of DGP of Rajasthan for only 20 days and retired on 30 June. He was appointed Chief  of Rajasthan Police  for a short period last month only,   after the retirement of IPS Utkal Ranjan Sahoo. Originally from Odisha, Mr. Sahoo was the DGP of Rajasthan for 15 months. After holding this post, Mr. Sahu, a 1988 batch IPS, was appointed as the Chairman of the Rajasthan Public Service Commission.
Rajiv Kumar Sharma , who has now been appointed as DGP, originally hails from Mathura in Uttar Pradesh. He has extensive experience in policing  and administration. Rajiv Sharma was awarded the President’s Police Medal in 2014 for his outstanding work.
Rajiv Sharma, a 1990 batch Rajasthan cadre officer of the Indian Police Service, has been the Superintendent of Police (SP) in Bharatpur district and Jaipur North. Apart from this, he has also been the Inspector General of Police (IG) in Bharatpur and Bikaner Range. Rajiv Sharma has also served in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in Delhi.
Rajiv Sharma has also held the posts of Director General of Anti-Corruption Bureau, DG – Law and Order and Director in Rajasthan Police Academy.
