Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana in open house meet on Friday

For Delhi police personnel, it was a different Friday as they met Police Commissioner Sir and discussed problems related to transfer, promotion or allotment of government quarter. Nearly 40 personnel belonging to different ranks from constable to ACP, met Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana in his chamber at Police headquarters on Friday. The first open house interaction between Police Commissioner Asthana and his force established a new connect between the top cop and his personnel. The purpose of open house was to redress the grievances of police personnel by personally hearing them out and sort out instantly.

Police Commissioner Asthana personally heard their grievances, which were mostly related to issues of transfers, promotions, medical issues, increments, quarter allotment etc. The grievances were attended to and necessary instructions were issued.

In his first interaction with the rank and file of Delhi Police early this month, Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana had announced to hold an open house every Friday to personally hear and sort out the problems of the staff.  Any police person with unresolved grievance can appear and share his or her problem with him. The Open house will also act as a feedback mechanism on the issues faced by members of the service.

Those who attended the meeting were elated by the response from Police Commissioner. This was perhaps the first time when police personnel sat in front of top cop and discussed problem across the table. Visibly elated, some said they were meeting the CP for the first time in such a manner in their entire service career.

Among those where were present at the open house included Additional CP Romil Baniya, Addl CP, CP Secretariat, Additional CP /GA Deepak Purohit, and DCP ( establishment ) M.I. Haider.
