
The 9th Military Literature Festival 2025 , a three day event celebrating India’s rich military heritage and intellectual traditions, concluded at Chandigarh on Sunday.
India’s Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan witnessed the closing ceremony and delivered the keynote address on the theme “Heartland and Rimland Powers in Multi-Domain Warfare and India.”
General Chauhan highlighted India’s unique strategic identity, stating that while history shaped a continental outlook, India’s geography defines it as both a continental and maritime power.
Inaugurated on 7th November , by the Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, the Military Literature Festival 2025 featured discussions on war literature, future warfare and multi domain operations. The fest is organised every year by the Military Literature Festival Association in partnership with the Punjab Government, Chandigarh Administration and Indian Army’s Western Command.
CDS Gen. Chauhan spoke before a packed audience of serving military officers, war veterans, civilians, NCC cadets, children and a British Army delegate on strategic challenges, lessons from the 1965 war and the vital role of youth in nation-building.
The event concluded with vibrant exchanges between veterans, scholars and youth—reaffirming India’s resolve towards a future ready and self-reliant Indian Armed Forces.
