Sandeep Goel, a senior Indian Police Service officer posted in Delhi Police, has been suspended. A few days back, Sandeep Goel was removed from the post of Director General (Prisons) of Delhi. This action on Sandeep Goyal was taken after the controversy arising out of the complaint letter written by a swindler Sukesh Chandrasekhar. Sukesh Chandra Shekhar has a case of money laundering worth Rs 200 crore and is lodged in Delhi’s Mandoli Jail.

Sukesh Chandra Shekhar had alleged that he had given Rs 12.5 crore as ‘protection money’ to the police officer to protect his life in jail.IPS Sandeep Goel was removed from the office of Director General in Delhi’s Tihar Jail and sent to Delhi Police Headquarters after initial enquiry. IPS Sanjay Beniwal, Special Commissioner of Delhi Police, was posted as the Director General of Prisons of Delhi in his place .

The Union Home Ministry on Wednesday (December 21, 2022) issued orders to suspend IPS Sandeep Goel of AGMUT cadre with immediate effect. It has been said in this order that a departmental inquiry has been initiated against 1989 IPS Sandeep Goyal. He will have to remain in Delhi till the inquiry order continues and will not be able to leave the headquarters without permission. During this period, he will be entitled to half the monthly salary and this salary will also be given to him if he certifies that during this period he will not do any job or earn income from any business etc.

Sukesh Chandrasekhar had also claimed , in a letter written to the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi on October 7 , that he had given Rs 10 crore as ‘protection money’ to Satyendar Jain, the jailed minister of Aam Aadmi Party’s Delhi government. Sukesh Chandrasekhar also said in the letter that he had given more than Rs 50 crore to get an important position in the ruling Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi.
