Around 50 jawans of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) donated blood at Guru Tegh Bahadur (GTB) hospital in Delhi. GTB hospital is the nearest to the riots affected area of Delhi, where maximum injured are brought after the violence erupted in North Eastern part of Capital.
According to a press statement, issued by CRPF, in the late night hours of last Tuesday, about 50 jawans of CRPF reached GTB hospital to supplement the blood bank lest it ran out of blood that was required to treat the victims of the recent disturbances in the capital. After donating blood, they returned with the promise of more units of blood to the hospital, should the occasion so warrant.

During 2019 alone, the Force organized as many as 154 blood donation camps across the length and breadth of the country. The total number of CRPF personnel who donated blood is an astounding 6959
“In matters of voluntary blood donation, this is like an unwritten template that CRPF personnel adhere to during their social commitments,” said the release.
In an extension of the spirit of humanity, more than 500 officers and jawans of the Force today donated blood in the Mega Blood Donation Camp organized by the Department of Transfusion Medicines in All India Institute of Medical Science ( AIIMS) here in New Delhi. Earlier in a message to the Force personnel, Director General of CRPF Dr. A. P Maheshwari had impressed upon them on the usefulness of donating blood for fellow countrymen. “At his behest, a series of concerted blood donation camps are being organized at each location of CRPF across the country as part of its 81st Anniversary celebrations on 19th March ,” said the press release.
