SBK Singh , an Indian Police Service officer of 1988 batch , is the new chief of Delhi Police. Currently posted as Director General of Delhi Home Guards, Mr. Singh will take over the new assignment as additional charge of the Delhi Police Commissioner on August 1.

SBK Singh, who has previously held various positions in the Delhi Police, is an officer of the Arunachal Goa Mizoram Union Territories (AGMUT) cadre of the Indian Police Service. According to an order, issued by the Union Home Ministry today (31 July 2025), Mr. Singh will additionally hold the charge of the post of Commissioner of Delhi Police in addition to his current post.

In his career spanning over 36 years, Mr. Singh has held several important positions in the Delhi Police. He also has experience of working as the head of the police force in two northeastern states – Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh.
IPS SBK Singh is an alumnus of St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University. He appeared for the Union Public Service Commission examination after graduating from here in 1986. Later he did an MBA with specialization in Human Resource Management.SBK Singh has held key positions in the Delhi Police, starting with the additional deputy commissioner of South district and then DCP in both Northeast and Central districts. He later headed the Economic Offences Wing. He has also served as Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) and Special Commissioner of Police.
