DM Awasthi, a 1986 batch officer of the Indian Police Service, has been posted as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) at Chhattisgarh Police Headquarters. He retired on Saturday (March 31) and the government gave him a contractual appointment within 24 hours. The cabinet of the state government had approved this post only last month. It is said that till the time of this new appointment of DM Awasthi, the service conditions for the post had not been.
The Home Department of the Government of Chhattisgarh has issued an order for the contractual appointment of Awasthi. A copy of this order was tweeted on Sunday by the Chief Minister’s Office itself. It was already discussed in the administrative circles that this post has been created in view of the retirement of DM Awasthi.
DM Awasthi served as IPS for 27 years. IPS Awasthi was earlier the Director General of Police (DGP) of Chhattisgarh state for three years. After that he took over the responsibility of Director of the Police Training Center. Three months before his retirement, he was appointed the director of the Economic Offenses and Anti-Corruption Bureau (EOW and ACB). Prior to this, Awasthi also held the posts of Superintendent of Police (SP) in various districts and Inspector General (IG) in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
