IPS Parag Jain appointed as head of RAW for two years

Indian Police Service  officer  Parag Jain has been appointed the new head of the India’s  external intelligence agency, the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW).

Parag Jain is an IPS officer  of 1989 of Punjab cadre and he is credited for playing  an important role in Operation Sindoor.

Parag Jain is currently the second senior-most officer in the RAW, after outgoing chief Ravi Sinha. Government  has announced his appointed as secretary RAW on Saturday.  Shri Jain will serve a two year tenure after taking over from Ravi Sinha, who is going to  retire on June 30th.

IPS Parag Jain heads Aviation Research Centre (ARC) , of the Intelligence agency,  which deals with aerial surveillance, among others. It is said that ARC  played strategical role during Operation Sindoor,  which was started in May after the terrorist attacked tourists in Pahalgam.

IPS Parag Jain’s   career includes important operational contributions during the  terrorism in Punjab, where he served as Senior Suprintendent and Deputy Inspector General of Police in various districts.

Within RAW, the senior IPS officer Parag Jain has  handled the Pakistan desk, with tenures in Jammu and Kashmir during the abrogation of Article 370.

He has done few foreign including Indian Missions in Sri Lanka and Canada.
