Insp. Masroor Wani is still critical in ICU, DGP R R Swain visits SKIMS

DGP R R Swain alongwith officers visited hospital to enquire about the condition of injured Inspector Masroor Ahmed Wani

The Director General of Police Jammu and Kashmir Police R R Swain yesterday evening visited Sher E Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences ( SKIMS) in Srinagar to know the welfare and enquire about the health condition of J&K Police Inspector Masroor Wani who was attacked by a terrorist with pistol shots while he was playing cricket with other members of the local community.

Shri Swain  was accompanied by Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) of Kashmir Vijay Kumar, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Srinagar Ashish Mishra and other jurisdictional officers.

The attacker fired upon  Inspector Masroor Ahmed Wani in full public view , while he was playing cricket near his residence in  Narwara Yechpora in Eidgah area of Srinagar on October 29. Police have not disclosed any further information about the attacker or investigation.

While enquiring about the health condition of the officer Medical Superintendent Farooq John explained that Insp. Masroor’s medical condition is still critical, who continues to be on life support systems. Shri Swain directed for best possible treatment be given to the ailing police officer.

Shri Swain also had a separate and long conversation with the father of Inspector Wani  and assured him that all possible help will be provided. He informed the father of the injured Inspector that  Home Minister  Amit Shah,  Lt. Governor  Manoj Sinha, Chief Secretary Dr Arun Kumar Mehta, Additional Chief Secretary (Home)  R. K Goyal and other top ranking officers are inquiring about the health of injured Inspector Masroor on a daily basis.

Shri Swain handed over Rupees One lakh as financial assistance to the family for meeting the medical attention related immediate expenses.

The DGP assured the family that the Government and Police department will provide all help including airlift of Masroor Ahmed Wani outside UT  as and when required. The DGP said that the prayers of thousands of Police personnel and common citizens are with family and the family should remain brave.
