Commuting in Mumbai on February 17th may take longer than on other days. There will be many traffic restrictions due to the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron, in the city.

As part of the security plan, the Mumbai Traffic Police will implement traffic diversions for a short period in certain parts of the city. This will be most affected on the Western Express Highway, one of Mumbai’s busiest roads.

If you travel between the suburbs and South Mumbai, especially during office hours, this advisory is relevant. These restrictions will be in effect for most of the day. Traffic officials say that commuting in Mumbai may take longer than on other days, so people should plan their travel accordingly.

According to Mumbai Traffic Police instructions, the movement of all heavy vehicles will be completely prohibited on both the northbound and southbound carriageways of the Western Express Highway.

The section of Mumbai most affected by the restrictions, which will be in effect from 8 AM to 9 PM on February 17, 2026, is the section from the Vakola flyover to the Dahisar toll plaza. This means that trucks, trailers, and other heavy vehicles will not be allowed to pass through this corridor during the restricted hours.

Traveller Advice:
Travelers are advised to plan their travel accordingly and use alternative routes to avoid inconvenience. Those traveling for work, school, or airport-related trips should allow for more time, as traffic congestion is expected on feeder roads and parallel routes.

Due to traffic diversions, light vehicles may be slowed. Public transport users may also experience some delays, especially on routes that rely on highways.
