As part of an initiative to strengthen technology-driven policing and enhance public safety, the Delhi Police has signed an agreement with the Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women (IGDTUW). Under this agreement, the  police have received 75 surveillance drones from the university.
These drones were developed and assembled by the university’s students with technical support from a private vendor.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Delhi Police and IGDTUW on Monday in the presence of Delhi Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena and Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha. The Lieutenant Governor of Delhi is the Chancellor of IGDTUW.

Under this collaboration, the Delhi Police have received a total of 75 surveillance drones, including one large, 15 medium, and 59 small drones.

According to a press release, these drones will be operated and managed by women personnel. For this purpose, 108 female police personnel have been specially trained under the ‘ Netra Netratv Nari’ (Vision Leadership Women) initiative. This represents a major step towards women-led policing in technical roles, symbolizing empowerment and modern leadership.
