With handing over the last aircraft of the consignment to the Indian Ambassador Dinesh K. Patnaik , Spain has completed its task  of supplying 16 Airbus C-295 to India two months before the scheduled time.  Mr. Patnaik accepted the Aircraft and subsequently handed it over to the Indian Air Force officers present at Airbus Defense and Space assembly line in Seville on Saturday.

Airbus C-295 is a  multirole Aircraft of strategic importance for different  AirForces.  As agreed by India and Spain , the remaining 40 aircraft of this category will be manufactured in India itself.

Equipped with modern technology the 5-10 tonne capacity aircraft Airbus C-295  can fly continuously for 11 hours. It is believed that its arrival is an important milestone in strengthening India’s defence capabilities. This aircraft will replace the old Avro aircraft of the Indian Air Force.

Indian Ambassador Dinesh K. Patnaik posted on social media the information about receiving the last aircraft of the consignment of Airbus C-295 military transport aircraft, saying, “This supply of two months ahead of schedule is an important milestone in strengthening India’s defense capabilities.”

India had signed an agreement with Spain’s Airbus Defense and Space in September 2021 for the purchase of C-295 MW transport aircraft for the Indian Air Force. According to this, under the Airbus C 295 program, a total of 56 aircraft are to be delivered, out of which 16 were to be delivered by Airbus directly from Spain, and the remaining 40 will be manufactured in India.

The last aircraft of the consignment of 16 Airbus C 295 was handed over to the Indian Air Force.

Airbus C-295 , made in Spain,  has also been purchased by India, Egypt, Poland, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Ireland, Portugal, Ireland and some other countries.

Who will make Airbus C-295 aircraft in India:
‘Airbus C-295’ will be manufactured at the Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) complex in Vadodara, Gujarat. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Spanish counterpart Pedro Sanchez jointly inaugurated this facility at  Tata Aircraft Complex  in October last year.
TASL has taken the responsibility for manufacturing these 40 aircraft in India. This facility has become the first private sector final assembly line (FAL) for military aircraft in India. This involves the complete development of an entire ecosystem for the entire lifecycle, from manufacturing of the aircraft to assembly, testing and qualification, and delivery and maintenance of the aircraft.

Apart from Tata, defence public sector units such as Bharat Electronics Limited and Bharat Dynamics Limited, as well as private micro, small and medium enterprises will also contribute to the programme.
