Out for morning walk, retired Brigadier shot dead in Dehradun

A retired Indian Army Brigadier V.K. Joshi, resident of Uttarakhand’s capital Dehradun, met a tragic end under unfortunate circumstances. Brigadier Joshi lost his life due to an act of violence unfolding between the occupants of two vehicles that were chasing each other. A stray bullet, fired at one of the vehicles, struck Brigadier Joshi as he was out for his morning walk. The incident took place on Monday (March 30).

Retired Brigadier V.K. Joshi, a resident of Rajpur Road, had stepped out for a walk around 6:45 AM just as he did on any other day. According to the police, at that very moment, occupants of a vehicle passing through the area opened fire on another vehicle. One of these stray bullets struck Brigadier Joshi. The injured Brigadier Joshi was rushed to the hospital, but his life could not be saved.

The police state that the two vehicles were either chasing  or attempting to overtake one another. The altercation reportedly began near Johri Village on Mussoorie Road in Dehradun. One of the vehicles involved was also damaged after crashing into a tree. Following the incident, the occupants of the vehicles fled from the spot.
