The Chief Secretary of the Union Territory of Chandigarh, H Rajesh Prasad reviewed the preparations for the upcoming Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team’s civil air display and issued necessary directives on Tuesday. Entry to the event will be strictly via passes, which are available for purchase on the Chandigarh Tourism App at a cost of Rs. 100 per person.
The capacity of the venue has been capped at 10,000 visitors per day. To manage traffic and prevent congestion near the venue, private vehicles will not be permitted to ply in the vicinity of Sukhna Lake. Seven designated pick-up and drop-off points for buses have been established across the city, with the final pick-up scheduled for 9:00 AM on both days.
Earlier, on Saturday, a meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav was convened to review the preparations for the event and to coordinate the necessary logistical arrangements. Key stakeholders, including senior officials from the Indian Air Force, the Police Department, the Municipal Corporation, the Health Department, Fire Services, and various other departments and agencies, participated in this meeting.
Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team:
Flying bright red and white Hawk trainer jets—and executing precise maneuvers, dives, loops, barrel rolls, inverted flight, and other thrilling aerial stunts—this team has never failed to mesmerize audiences both within the country and abroad. This marks the second time in the last six months that the Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team (SKAT) will be in Chandigarh. The Surya Kiran team last visited the city in September 2025 on the occasion of the ceremonial conclusion of the MiG-21’s operational flights. Prior to that, in October 2022, their aerial feats captivated the residents of Chandigarh at Sukhna Lake during the Air Force Day flypast.
