Protests are also taking place in Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and other countries. Shia Muslims are also taking to the streets in several states in India.
United Nations Chief Antonio Guterres condemned the US-backed Israeli airstrikes on Iran and called for the immediate resumption of negotiations to “rescue the region and the entire world from the crisis.”
On Saturday, 30 missiles struck the office complex of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. His daughter , son -in-law, daughter-in-law, and a granddaughter, along with 40 commanders present at the complex, were killed. Khamenei was reportedly in the meeting with commanders at the time of the attack.
Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu announced Khamenei’s death late Saturday night. Shortly thereafter, US President Donald Trump also claimed his death. Iran’s state media agencies, Tasnim and Fars, confirmed this on Sunday morning.
