IPS officer Sharada Raut has been named Special Inspector General of Police (IGP) for the newly constituted Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF). Previously served as Joint Commissioner in the Maharashtra’s State Intelligence Department (SID) has recently returned from Central deputation at the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Ms. Raut’s appointment signals the intensified focus on curbing drug trafficking and substance abuse in Maharashtra.
The Anti Narcotics Task Force was formally approved by the Maharashtra Cabinet in February 2025 and created 346 new posts for the same. It indicates a major policy push towards curbing narcotics menace and enforcement across the state.
Ravindra Shisve, a 2002 batch IPS officer has been posted as Joint Commissioner of SID, replacing Sharada Raut. Shri Shisve previously served as Commissioner of Railway Police in Mumbai,

Navin Chandra Reddy, the Commissioner of Police in Amravati City, has been transferred to Nagpur as Joint Commissioner of Police. His replacement is yet to be decided.
Another IPS officer Dr Arti Singh(2006 batch) and current Special IGP (Administration), has been relieved from her post but she is awaiting her next assignment.
