Lt Gen Manjinder Singh took over as the 47th Chief Of Staff of Western Command.

Lieutenant General Manjinder Singh ( Yudh Seva Medal, Vishisht Seva Medal) took over as the Chief of Staff, Headquarters Western Command on Thursday. He paid homage to martyrs at the war memorial : Veer Smriti ” at the Western Command Headquarters.

Lt. General Manjinder Singh is an alumnus of Sainik School Kapurthala, National Defence Academy and Indian Military Academy. He was commissioned into 19 MADRAS Regiment on 20 December 1986.

In an illustrious career spanning over a period of more than 34 years, Lt. Gen. Manjinder Singh has tenated important Command appointments in varied sensitive operational sectors and High Altitude terrains.

He has commanded his Battalion in an intense counter insurgency environment in Jammu and Kashmir, an Infantry Brigade at the Line of Control (Lo C) and an Infantry Division as part of Strike Corps.

The General has been an instructor at the Indian Military Academy (IMA) and the Indian Military Training Team at Bhutan. Lt,Gen. Manjinder Singh has attended various prestigious courses such as the Defence Services Staff College, Higher Command and he also had the distinction to attend the National Defence College at Thailand.

For his exemplary leadership and devotion to duty towards the Nation, the Lt. Gen. Manjinder Singh has been decorated with Yudh Seva Medal in 2015 and Vishisht Seva Medal in 2019.
