Every work of Kargil warrior and India’s first blade runner Major DP Singh becomes a source of inspiration for someone or the other. Major DP Singh, who lost his leg in an attack during Operation Vijay, has now donated Rs 17.5 lakh to various welfare programs for the army and soldiers. He won the prize during a special episode of the popular TV program Kaun Banega Crorepati.

Major DP Singh handed over the cheque of the amount won in KBC to the Adjutant General of the Indian Army during a meeting in New Delhi today. other senior army officers were also present on the occasion.

Major DP Singh was injured in the attack during Operation Vijay near a bunker of the Pakistani army in Akhnoor sector. There were so many wounds on his body that when he was brought to the hospital, he could not even move. Seeing his condition, the doctors had even declared him dead. During the long treatment, this Indian soldier not only defeated death but also started running marathons with the help of artificial limb. Major DP Singh started competing in races.Later on he started running even after fitting the blade. He also made a record by jumping from a height and also provided special training as well assistance to the differently-abled.

The major attack on Major DP Singh took place on 15 July 1999. Interestingly , now he celebrates the same day as his birthday.
