Five personnel of the Indian Air Force have lost their lives in an accident involving an AN-32 aircraft. The transport aircraft crashed while landing at the Jorhat Air Force Station in Assam on Saturday (June 13, 2026). Emergency operations were launched immediately following the accident, and an official inquiry into the incident has been ordered.

According to official sources, the five IAF personnel who lost their lives in this tragic accident are: Squadron Leader Prashant Singh, Flight Lieutenant Shubham Kumar, Sergeant Jitendra Sharma, Agniveer (Air) Khemaram Kumawat, and Agniveer (Air) Danish Alam. An Air Force spokesperson,  while posting  these details on the social media platform ‘X’, said that 5 IAF personnel made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.

“IAF extends its deepest condolences to the bereaved families and stands firmly with them in this hour of grief”, said the post.

Preliminary reports suggest the accident occurred this morning when the aircraft crashed inside the Air Force Station premises while landing and caught fire upon impact. Rescue and firefighting teams were immediately dispatched to the site to extinguish the blaze and assess the situation on the ground. The Indian Air Force stated that the cause of the crash has not yet been determined.
