Army foils infiltration bid, kills 6 terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Keran sector

Srinagar: Indian Army killed six terrorists who were trying to infiltrate into India at Keran sector in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Sunday. It was the biggest infiltration attempt in recent months, officials said.The incident is a reminder of yet another attempt by militants to infiltrate into India at a time the conditional ceasefire in Jammu and Kashmir during the holy month of Ramadan is underway. Defence Ministry spokesman Colonel Rajesh Kalia said the militants attempted to breach the line of Control (loC), triggering a gun battle. He further said that the troops were now engaged in a search operation. The slain militants were yet to be identified.
In fact, a solider was killed two days ago and anoher was injured in an ambush at Keran which is 94 kilometres from Srinagar area. Since then, the security forces have been combing the sector since that ambush when they spotted the infiltrators on Sunday.
