Police personnel becoming victims of ‘ target killings’ in Kashmir

Police and law & Order agencies in terrorism hit the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir are once again facing the challenge of ‘ target killings’, one of the tactics adopted by the terrorists outfits. Terrorists have again started attacking soft targets. One after another attack has been carried out every day for the last three consecutive days. Out of these three, victims in two attacks were the personnel of Jammu and Kashmir Police.

After the attack on Inspector Masroor Ahmed in the capital Srinagar on Sunday , the terrorists now shot dead Head Constable  Ghulam Mohammad Dar of Jammu And Kashmir Police in Baramulla. Earlier on Monday, a civilian named Mukesh Singh  was also shot dead in Pulwama. Mukesh Singh came here from Uttar Pradesh to work as a labourer.

Mukesh Singh was fired upon in Rajpora of Pulwama District on Monday afternoon. He was taken to the hospital in injured condition but could not survive.Police said that Mukesh Singh was a resident of Uttar Pradesh  and used to work as a laborer here.

Murder of Head Constable Ghulam Mohammad Dar:
Head Constable of Jammu Kashmir Police ,  Ghulam Mohammad Dar was a resident of Karalpora in district Baramulla. The terrorists targeted and fired upon him  with a small weapon  when he came out of his house on Tuesday.  Giving a brief account of the incident, Kashmir Zone Police said that the injured head constable Ghulam Mohammad was taken to the nearby  hospital but his life could not be saved. He succumbed to his injuries.

While paying tribute, the police has said that its all ranks stands with the family of its martyred soldier in this time of sorrow. The area where the attack took place has been completely cordoned off to search for any evidence or presence of the attacker.

Attack on Inspector Masroor:
In a dreaded act of terrorism an attacker fired upon the Inspector Masroor Ahmed Wani of Jammu and Kashmir Police ,  in full public view , while he was playing cricket near his residence in   Narwara Yechpora in Eidgah area of Srinagar. Since Sunday was a holiday, the cricket ground was full of local boys and Inspector Masroor  also started playing with them .

The attacker reached  there and ,  without any fear , he went closer to Inspector Masroor and fired three-four bullets from his gun ,  targeting Inspector Masroor. Not only this, before running away from the spot  he fired in the air too , to make people scared and scattered.

Injured Inspector Masroor Ahmed Wani was admitted to the nearby Sher-E-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences in Soura. Doctors confirmed that he had injuries on his face and abdomens and described his condition as critical.

These days Inspector Masroor was posted in the District Police Lines. It is said that he got married some time back and his wife is pregnant. It is believed that Inspector Masroor has also been posted in counter intelligence earlier.
