Haryana police exercise –
Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij  has said that in regard with fitness of the police officers and personnel, I would like that the police personnel and officers who are overweight should be transferred to the police lines and there they should be made to exercise till they achieve fitness.  IPS officers will also have to go through the same process.

BMI should not be above 30 –

It is noteworthy that a similar order has been issued this week following the instructions of the Chief Minister in Assam. Obese policemen in Assam have been given an ultimatum  till August 15. Police personnel have  been told that if they  do not reduce obesity , they may have to leave the police service. Such an ultimatum has been given by the Director General of Assam Police Gyanendra Pratap Singh himself. The aim behind this is to make the state police efficient to serve the public. The criteria that has been fixed for this is body mass index body mass index which should be less than 30.Unfit policemen will retire –
After August 15, 2023, BMI of all policemen with symptoms of obesity will be recorded in Assam Police. If found above 30, they will be asked to reduce it by November 15. In some cases, a 3 month extension will be given in Assam. If that policeman still does not reduce obesity, then he will be asked to take voluntary retirement. Exemption will be given only in cases of weight gain due to some  disease or any medical conditions.
This decision was taken after a survey of the Assam Police revealed a large number of obese policemen.
