According to the details of the FIR registered, this incident happened between 7.40 pm to 5.10 am on March 8. She has accused the Brigadier of harassment and threatening.
The woman , in her complaint , said that the Brigadier came to her and asked why she does not pay attention to him. The woman has accused the brigadier of harassing her with obscene comments and unwanted aggressive behaviour. She also said that despite repeated warnings, the senior army officer did not stop his actions.
The woman making the allegation is the wife of an Indian Army Colonel, one rank junior to a Brigadier.
An FIR was registered at the area police station on March 10 under sections 75 (2) (sexual harassment), 79 (insulting the modesty of a woman), 351 (criminal intimidation) of the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS). East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem said the crime, which took place on Sunday evening, is under investigation.
The victim has said in her complaint that the Brigadier approached her with wrong intentions several times during the ‘dining out function’. “He came to me and made comments like: ‘Why was I not paying attention to him? The party has become very boring, isn’t it? You have betrayed me’,” the complainant said, adding that the brigadier used abusive language against her in Hindi and English.
The woman also accused the brigadier of using criminal force, which was prevented by her husband.
The complainant also detailed a few other incidents in her complaint, including one on April 13, 2024, when another officer had organised a housewarming dinner for some military families. The woman says the brigadier approached her that day and made sexually suggestive remarks. The woman also detailed two other similar incidents.
