Back to back IED blast in Chhattisgarh, BSF HC Akhilesh and CAF constable Kamlesh lost lives

Border Security Force (BSF) Head  Constable Akhilesh Rai lost his life on Thursday in an attack by Naxalites using an improvised explosive device (IED) in Chhattisgarh. Akhilesh was 45 years old and was a resident of Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh. A day before this, Chhattisgarh Armed Forces (CAF) constable Kamlesh Kumar was killed  and another constable Vinay Kumar got injured in same kind of incident.

Police said that Akhilesh Rai was an Head Constable  in BSF and was in the team that went with Road Opening Party (ROP) for operation.

According to officials, the blast took place in Sadakatola village, about 5 kilometers away from a temple, in Partapur police station area of Kanker district. At that time a joint team of District Police and BSF was on ROP operation. Suddenly, Akhilesh Rai’s foot fell on the (IED) hidden there which resulted in a blast.

ROP is conducted to secure the road before any construction work or movement of security forces or for any VIP. An official said that Akhilesh Rai, who was badly injured, was taken to the hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries. After this incident, local police, District Reserve Guard (DRG) and BSF are searching the area.

This is the second such incident in two days when a security personnel has been killed in an IED blast. On Wednesday,  Maoists had killed another security personnel Kamlesh Kumar Sahu in an IED blast near an iron ore mine in the Amdai hills. Kamlesh Sahu was a coonstable with  Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF).  Sahu could not be saved and another constable Vinay suffered minor injuries.

Kamlesh Sahu and Constable  Vinay Kumar, resident of Balod, were in the front during the search. During this search operation, jawan Kamlesh Sahu’s foot fell on a pressure IED planted by Naxalites. This caused an explosion and badly injured Kamlesh died on the spot. Kamlesh Sahu was a resident of Hassaud in Sakti district. After the blast, the Naxalites started firing at the security forces, who retaliated by firing at them.

Kamlesh Sahu was fond of joining the army since childhood. For which he was preparing since 2010. There was recruitment in CAF in 2018 for which he had appliedand got selected.   Kamlesh Sahu was posted with 9th battalion of CAF in Narayanpur.
