In an important step to bring girls in Sainik Schools, online registration for admission in class six has now been opened for girls for the next academic year 2020-21. The girl students can take admission in five Sainik schools. Out of five, two are located in Karnataka’s Bijapur and Kodagu areas. The remaining are in Chandrapur in Maharashtra, Ghorakhal in Uttarakhand and  Kalikiri in Andhra Pradesh.

The step is in consonance with the efforts of the central government to bring gender equality in defence forces. An effort to rope in girl cadets was first made in Mizoram’s Sainik School Chhingchhip in June 2018 when six girl cadets took admission in class 6.

The online application form is available at www.sainikschooladmission.in. Model question papers are also available on the website. The last date of registration is December 06, 2019. The examination will be held on January 05, 2020.
