
The second 25T Bollard Pull Tug boat ‘Baahubali’ built by Titagarh Rail Systems Limited, Kolkata has been launched. The construction of the fourth 25t BP tug boat Yuvan is also started. This tug boat is one of the important works started under the “Make in India” initiative. Last month a similar tug boat ‘Mahabali’ was launched and that is built by Shoft Shipyard Private Limited.
According to press release, these tug boats are being built in accordance with the “Self-reliant India” initiative of the Government of India. Of these, the work for construction and delivery of six 25T BP Tugs boats was awarded on contract basis to Titagarh Rail Systems Limited (TRSL).These special vessels are being built based on the classification rules of the Indian Shipping Register (IRS).
The availability of these boats will accelerate the naval operational commitments of the Indian Navy by facilitating support to naval ships and submarines during berthing and unberthing, turning and maneuvering in confined waters. These tugs will also provide firefighting support to ships at anchor and have the capability to conduct limited search and rescue operations.
